example : Phlegm-Damp type Asthma,  need to strengthen the Metal (Lung), Earth (Spleen) and Fire (Heart) Elements.

EG:

Brown Rice - increases qi, strengthens spleen

  • Navy Beans - sweet flavor, benefits the lungs and spleen (both aspects of the metal element)
  • Almonds - relieve stagnant qi of the lungs, transform phlegm
  • Mustard Greens - influence lungs, clear chest congestion, improve energy circulation
  • Onions - resolves phlegm and inflammations of the upper respiratory system
  • Radish - transforms phlegm
  • Pear - affects the lungs, eliminates phlegm
  • Avoid - dairy (which may add mucus/phlegm), meat (which may weaken the spleen) and sweeteners (which may weaken the spleen and contribute to dampness)

In this case you would want to eat foods which fall into the pungent, sweet and bitter categories and avoid foods which aggravate these elements - sugar, meat and eggs.

  • Therapeutic Actions:
  • Bitter (Fire) foods are generally cooling (yin) and encourage contraction and the descending of energy
  • Sweet (Earth) foods are generally strengthening (yang) and encourage energy to expand upward and outward
  • Pungent (Metal) foods are generally warming (yang) and encourage energy to expand and move outward
  • Salty (Water) foods are generally cooling (yin) and encourage energy to move in and down
  • Sour (Wood) foods are generally cooling (yin) and encourage energy to contract and collect
  • Temperature - Within each categorization foods have differing temperature qualities which, while generally good for that element, may not be used during certain seasons or conditions. For example, if you had a common cold (Metal, Lung) condition you would decrease your intake of some of the foods which are generally cooling within the Metal element such as the fruits.
  • Season - The current season will also play a role in which foods you may choose to eat. In the summer (fire, hot) we require more cooling foods and in the winter (water, cold) we require more warming, deeply nourishing foods.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture Germplasm Resources Information Network,[2] it is also known as Chinese wolfberry, goji berry, barbary matrimony vine, bocksdorn, Duke of Argyll's tea tree,[3] or matrimony vine.[4] Unrelated to the plant's geographic origin, the names Tibetan goji and Himalayan goji are in common use[5] in the health food market for products from this plant.

PiMag water systems

PiMag water system

Are you drinking dead water?

There is a village in Japan where a river passes between two mountains. Life on the banks of the river before it reaches the mountains is pretty much normal, but the locals noticed that the banks of the river after the mountains were lush, full of life and vegetation beyond what was average.

The people enjoyed drinking the water and felt better for it. The area began to get a reputation.

More recently, about 30 years ago, scientists started to analyse the water, finding it to be full of minerals, quite different from the water before it reached the mountain. They found that one of the mountains had a magnetic charge and the other mountain was full of minerals. Technology can now reproduce this effect. It is called PiMag. Pi is Greek for 'life', and 'returning to the source';  Mag for the magnetic charge.

PiMag water filters will filter water to .1 micron (the same as a kidney machine and 10 times smaller than most other home filters) This removes all contaminants, metals, chlorine, flouride.

Unlike most water filters that will filter out the good things in water as well as the bad, leaving it comparatively 'dead', PiMag replenishes the water with minerals from mineral rocks within the filter system. It is highly oxygenated and restores water to pH(7.4) - perfect for all bodily functions.

An average house can manage on a system which costs around £130

The filters will need to be replaced on average every 6 months at £31 a time, depending on usage.

The absolute importance of Water

Many, many illnesses nowadays are caused through lack of hydration.

If you feel low, under the weather, catching frequent colds or just not feeling tip-top it may just require a few more glasses of water per day to remedy.

Water is of utmost importance to maintain a healthy body. In the west we don't drink enough. Why the west? Because our climate does not cause us to want to drink. The cold, the damp and the lack of sunlight means our taste buds do not get the stimulation they need for us to pick up a glass of water. On top of that, central heating, heated cars, offices etc dry us out more rapidly than before, and our body starts to flag. Water can put things right.

There are many theories but I find that two tumblers of cold water first thing in the morning (before you brush your teeth) then have nothing for 40 mins (not even a cup of tea) and the water goes straight to the dehydrated areas in the body, replenishing and enabling healing. If you find waiting 40 mins for breakfast a bit too hard to do, then start your qigong exercise regime! It fits in ideally - and your energy is boosted for the day! You are on top of the world!

Try it. You won't be disappointed.
